OFF THE CUFF: THE GOODWYN AT UNION HILL
As Richmond continues to grow, so does the need for affordable housing.  At the forefront of that work is the Better Housing Coalition led by CEO Greta J. Harris (LMR '95).  Their newest residential rental development is 52 units of affordable housing which includes the renovation of the former Citadel of Hope in the Union Hill neighborhood.  The construction also includes two- and three- story buildings on Venable and Jessamine Streets, as well as a four-story building where leasing and a community clubhouse will be located.

Join us for a tour of this new property followed by lunch with Better Housing Coalition's CEO as well as their VP of External Affairs Chris Hairston-White (LMR '09).  Learn more about this organization's work in the East End as well as their plans for more afforable housing units and resident support services throughout the Richmond region

LEADING CONVERSATIONS: BEST PRACTICES IN FACILITATION
Leadership Metro Richmond and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities have partnered to create a three-part educational training to teach best practices in facilitation. In these divisive times, tough issues are emerging in our communities, in the workplace, and at home. Open dialogue is critical but it also requires proper facilitation. This training is intended to strengthen the Richmond region by equipping our community leaders with the tools they need to lead conversations in a manner that is inclusive, informative, and effective. This program will not only offer up practical tips but will also give participants the opportunity to put their new skills into practice.

WOMAN SPEAK YOUR TRUTH
Creating safe spaces that require trust, invite vulnerability and foster relationships among this region's community leaders is part of the LMR mission.  On the first Thursday of every month, LMR in partnership with Rita Ricks (LMR '89) will host a small group of female alumni for authentic conversation around both their challenges and their hopes for the future.  We must be comfortable speaking our truth and be comfortable with some disagreement.  It's how we grow and make a difference.
